Normanston Community AllotmenT, Lowestoft
S - This was a job. My role was to organise the horticulturalists. Events and use by the community were a priority. I inherited certain odd circumstances and the whole project was unusual as well as amazing.
A - personally it would not have been a 'my' project of choice unless I lived in Lowestoft or, as was the case, that I was being paid. We had a plot, we got on with it and had lots of great moments.
D- designed posters, a sense of ownership by users and highlighted needs like a willow screened bucket loo. Other projects were an eating area, polytunnel and using or dumping or organising the huge volume of accumulated junk on site.
I - 2 years on an it was a lovely site. Still many issues but it ' touched the lives' of lots of people.
M - Ongoing. Currently in 2016 a facebook page does most of the communications and a few people still use it as a community resource.
E - A truly good use of Big Lottery money but now in 2016 I'm not sure how well it is doing. The infrastructure and events have revamped the allotment site that was suffering from neglect. I personally made good friends from the experience.
T - Issues of ownership, longevity, community gardening experience all gained. Project management skills also been learnt.
